Acquiring Authority

A public or governmental entity vested with the constitutional or statutory power to acquire private property through eminent domain. Commonly, the acquiring authority is the Wisconsin Department of Transportation or the Public Service Commission. However, other governmental entities such as towns and municipalities may exercise eminent domain to acquire your land.
