What is an Easement?
Frequently in Wisconsin Eminent Domain and Condemnation law, the condemning authority (usually the government or a utility company) will need to acquire an easement from landowners. An easement is the interest to the limited use of land--not permanent possession.
Landowners are entitled to compensation for easements. That is because an easement burdens the land and limits the landowners' use and enjoyment of the property.
